Introduction
Welcome to Launch Code, the very first episode of Mr. Fred’s Tech Talks—the ultimate family tech podcast from GetMeCoding.com. I’m Mr. Fred, a college professor, former Marine officer, and lifelong tinkerer. If you’ve ever wondered how to get started with coding for kids, demystify artificial intelligence explained, or find simple STEM activities at home, you’re in the right place.
What’s on the Workbench
Building a stronger tech confidence starts behind the scenes. This summer, I’m:
- New Video Tutorial – Build a Handheld Game Console
- Designing our next MakeCode Arcade tutorial for beginners
- Planning bonus episodes with guest interviews on cutting-edge ed-tech
Each episode will be a 10–15 minute deep dive that is perfect for busy parents on the go or students tuning in between classes.
Main Segment: Why This Podcast?
Technology evolves fast. Between coding tutorials, AI breakthroughs, and classroom projects, it’s easy to feel left behind. Launch Code flips the script:
- Jargon-free explanations of programming languages (Python, JavaScript)
- Real-world project ideas for families and teachers
- Insider tips on tech tools
Our goal is to help you learn to code, explore educational technology, and build real skills—one byte at a time.
Tech Tip of the Day
Start small, stay consistent.
Don’t overwhelm yourself or your kids by tackling a huge project first. Pick one simple challenge like changing a webpage’s background color with HTML/CSS or printing “Hello, world!” in Python and celebrate that win. Consistency builds confidence faster than one big, daunting leap.
